Resolving BeX (Business Explorer) Error

Environment: SAP GUI 720 in Windows 7

Pre-requisite:

Implement the following SAP GUI 720 and BeX patches –

· SAP GUI720_patch gui720_4-10007878.exe
· BI_720 _Patch_300
bi720sp03_300-20006596.exe
bw350gui720_5-20006857.exe

 
Error 1:-
No File type association configured for .3xbex and .7xbex files.
 

 
Corrective Measure:-

Go to START > Set Default Program >Associate a File Type with a program
 

 

 
Set the file type extensions with the respective programs.
 

 
File type Associated Program
.3xbex C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\Bw\wdb3xlau.exe
.7xbex C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer
 
If the file type is not found then create dummy file on desktop with the extensions .3xbex and .7xbex and then make the association.
 
Creating dummy .3xbex/.7xbex files on desktop –
- Right click anywhere on desktop > new > text document.
 

 
- This will create a text file as ‘New Text Document.txt
 

 
- Rename this file 1.3xbex / 1.7xbex
 

 
- Click on Yes.
- This will create the following files
 

 
Open the file as follows –
 

 
Select Browse -


 
Provide the file name as ‘C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\Bw\wdb3xlau.exe’ for .3xbex file or
‘C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer’ for .7xbex file
- select ‘Open’
- select “OK’
Now make the association -
 

 
File type Associated Program
.3xbex C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\Bw\wdb3xlau.exe
.7xbex C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer
Save the changes.
 
Error 2:-
connect to SAP gateway failed.
 

 
Entry in the host file –
Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc – host file
Make following entries –

172.**.*.***        BWDB                BWDB.**.****.co.in
